HOLTON - Zelpha C. "Zee" Duke, 97, of Kansas City, MO formerly of Holton, KS passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 at Kingswood Retirement Community in Kansas City, MO. She was born May 11, 1912 in Soldier, KS the daughter of Clements and Frankie Bahret Bottom. She graduated from Holton High School in 1931.
Zelpha had lived in Kansas City since 1961. She was a secretary for the Olin and Johns Manville Corporation in Topeka where she was employed there for 29 years. She was a former member of Buck's Grove Methodist Church. She was married to Lewis O. Duke on April 17, 1961 in Miami, OK. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1973.
Survivors include her nieces, Imogene Taldo and Berniece Ladwig both of Garden City, KS and their extended families as well as many cousins.
There were no services. Interment was in Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Bucks Grove United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
