LARKINBURG- Winston Wheeler, 84, of Larkinburg, KS passed away Sunday, March 01, 2009 in Holton, KS. He was born October 14, 1924 at Wheeler Corner north of Nortonville, KS the son of Edwin and Mabel Allen Wheeler.
Winston graduated from Effingham High School in 1942. He moved to Larkinburg in 1947 and owned and operated Wheeler Hardware since 1953. He was a farmer and stockman all of his life. He was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Nortonville, KS and the Odd fellows in Holton.
He was married to Eva Mae Shipman on June 6, 1944 in Larkinburg, KS. She passed away on January 5, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael "Mike" Wheeler on August 8, 2004. He is survived by his sons, John Wheeler of Colorado Springs, CO and Jerry Wheeler of Holton, KS; his sister, Norma Smith of Wichita, KS; his brother, Wilmer Wheeler in Florida; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. Interment will be in Larkinburg Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
