WILLIAM JACK SLATER
Valley Falls - William Jack Slater, 55, Valley Falls, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, as a result of an ice fishing accident east of Valley Falls.
Mr. Slater had worked as a welder for Ernest-Spencer Metals in Meriden. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Bronze Star.
He was born August 6, 1951, at Artesia, CA, the son of Walter Vernon and Charlotte Marie Rupnik Slater.
He married Juanita Susie Hoffman on July 14, 1979 in Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack William Slater, and a sister, Kathy Marie Slater.
Survivors include his wife Susie Slater, Valley Falls, a son, Patrick O. Slater, Ozawkie; a brother, Walter V. Slater, Jr., Topeka; two sisters Janice Lee Nikodem, Cedar City, Utah, and Peggy Lou Smith, Fontana, CA; and two grandchildren.
