WILLIAM H. "BILL" MEYER

William H. "Bill" Meyer, 73, Topeka, died Friday, June 16, 2006, at
Holton Community Hospital after losing his battle with leukemia.
Mr. Meyer was a farmer and rancher at Ludell and had worked there for
several oil companies. He later worked in property development at Lake
Havasu City, Ariz. before retiring in Topeka in 1995.
At Ludell he was chairman of the congregation, treasurer and a trustee at Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the Board of Directors for the Farmers State Bank and the Farmers Cooperative. He later was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton.
He was born April 13, 1933, at Ludell, the son of William G. and
Margaret Wolters Meyer. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church at Ludell on April 30, 1933, and attended the church's elementary school. He was confirmed at the church on March 30, 1947.
He married Sylvia Michel on April 8, 1961, at Ludell.
Survivors include his wife Sylvia, of the home; a sister Sophie Hill,
and her husband William Frank, Holton; a cousin Louise Fischer, and
her husband, Frederick, Grand Island, Neb.; two nephews, John Hill and his wife, Tammy, and Henry hill and his wife, Tracy, all of Holton; two nieces, Margaret Pagel, and her husband, Henry, Holton, and Kay Rash and her husband, Mike, Circleville; two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Michel, and his wife Cathi, Newton, and Richard Michel, and his wife, Judy, Ludell. He was "Grandpa" to Miranda, Keith
and Casey Simminger, Ludell, and ShaeLyn Michel, Topeka.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at
Trinity Lutheran Church at Holton. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00
p.m., Tuesday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. A service will also
be at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 10:00 am, Thursday, at Atwood.
Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery at Ludell. A
visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 pm, Wednesday, at Williams Funeral
Home at Atwood.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Hour or Trinity
Lutheran Church and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 270,
Holton, KS 66436. Also, a gift of blood may be donated at a location
