William A. “Bill” Dzwonkowski, 87 of Mayetta, Kansas and formerly of Kohler and Sheboygan, Wisconsin passed away Friday, June 26, 2026 at his home in Mayetta, Kansas. He was born January 8, 1939 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the son of Felix P. and Margart (Catlin) Dzwonkowski. William graduated from Kohler High School in Kohler, Wisconsin in 1957. William played football with the Kohler Blue Bombers as a lineman.

After high school, William enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 31 Jan 1957 as a Reservist. William served on active duty from 21 Oct. 1957 to 20 Oct 1960,  during the Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged on 27 Jan 1963 after serving 3 more years of inactive duty.

On January 31, 1962, William proposed to Theresa K. “Terry” Kretschmann and they were married on June 30, 1962 in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. They shared nearly 64 years of marriage. From this loving union they reared four beautiful children; Lee, James, Kathy and Bettie.

William worked part of his career for the Kohler Company, in Kohler, WI as an Industrial Engineer in the Pottery. He also served his community as a Police Officer for the Kohler Police Department. He retired from Bemis Manufacturing Company in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin where he performed top tier maintenance for the manufacturing machines.

William was a member of the HokeyDokes club in Sheboygan, WI. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with most of his stories originating from the Northwoods of WI. AKA FT. Felix. William was a very active member in St. John’s Catholic Church in Kohler, WI. He taught 10th grade Catticism, Organized and Prepared many Sunday Social Breakfasts. His homemade doughnuts stole the show. Most were gone before the Church Picnic began.

William was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Margaret Dzwonkowski, his brother Felix “Sonny” (Pam) Dzwonkowski, Jr. of Ekhardt Lake, WI and his sister Betty Moore of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and his son James L Dzwonkowski.

William is survived by his wife Theresa; one sister, Joanne Marco of Sheboygan, WI., one son, Lee Dzwonkowski of Mayetta, KS; two daughters, Kathy Dzwonkowski and Bettie "Liz" Lavin of Manchester, MO; and 3 grandchildren; Timothy M and David M “Dana” Lavin and Scott Dzwonkowski.

William's wishes were to be cremated. His family will be organizing a Military memorial service at a later date.
