William Wayne "Bill" Oaks, 52, of Topeka, KS was killed in an accident at work on Saturday, October 16, 2010 in Jefferson County. He was born March 3, 1958 in Atchison, KS the son of John and Hazel Laurie Oaks.
Bill had attended Muscotah and Horton schools and had worked in construction all of his life. He had been working for Hamm Construction for the past 9 years. He is survived by his wife, Penny Carlson and granddaughters, Hailey and Kaitlyn Schwanz all of the home; his daughter, Merinda "Mindy" Oaks and his son, Faron Moore both of Topeka, KS and his sister, Elizabeth "Beth" Mellies (Art) of Netawaka, KS.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in the Netawaka Cemetery. He will lie in state at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
