Wilfred "Dale" Scheidegger, 80, of Holton, KS passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at his home. He was born December 5, 1931 in rural Soldier, KS the son of George Nichols and Gertie May (Flanders) Scheidegger.
Dale graduated from Soldier High School in 1949 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. Dale served for the USMC from 1949 -1971 during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. During his service he earned the Purple Heart and retired as Master Sergeant. After the war he returned home and owned and operated Dale's Super Service small engine repair with his wife Corky. He also worked at Holton Bowling Alley, Dick's Service, Salsbury's Supply and Anderson Construction.
Dale was a life member of the Holton VFW Post #1367, a member of the American Legion Post #44, Fleet Reserve Assoc. and had attended First United Methodist Church in Holton.
He married Corolyn M. "Corky" Meester on November 20, 1955 in Glenvil, NE. She preceded him in death on September 18, 2009. He was also preceded by a son, Pvt. James R. Scheidegger on January 7, 1979 and a brother, Fred Scheidegger.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheila A. Fritzemeier of Wichita, KS; a son, Kenneth D. Scheidegger of Olpe, KS; 3 sisters, Betty Moore, Lois Johnson and Else May Ingels all of Topeka, KS; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with full military honors will be in the Holton Cemetery.
