TRIBBLE

HOLTON- Wilford Thomas "Tommy" Tribble, 88, of Holton, KS passed away June 18, 2009 at Holton Community Hospital. He was born July 6, 1920 in Soldier, KS the son of John Lee and Iva Blanche Rowley Tribble.
Tommy lived most of his life in the Soldier community where he was a farmer and stockman, rural letter carrier for 10 years and drove the school bus for Soldier and Jackson Heights for 19 years. He also worked for Starr Farm Service and retired in 1986. He was a member of the Soldier United Methodist Church, Soldier Lions Club and Rural Letter Carriers Association. Tommy and Dorothy moved to Holton in 1999 and enjoyed many happy hours with the activities at the Senior Citizens Center. His biggest joy was his family and all of their activities.
He married Dorothy May Major on December 25, 1943 in Maryville, MO. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Alan Lee Tribble (Louella) of Topeka, KS; 3 daughters, Beverly Jean Keehn (Sam), Linda Sue Rieschick (LeRoy) and Kathleen Lynnette Flesher (Phil) all of Soldier, KS; a brother, Robert Gene Tribble (Twyla) of Houston, TX; 12 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren with two more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Lloyd Bryan and Gaylord Lee Tribble.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in the Soldier Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Jackson County Senior Citizens Center or Holton Community Hospital Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
