Wade Miller, 86, Mayetta, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at the Atchison Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born on April 14, 1924, southeast of Oskaloosa, the son of Harvey E. and Sarah Elizabeth "Bessie" Black Miller. He attended Valley Falls High School and later received his GED in 1985. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the Pacific aboard the Charles E. Brannon Destroyer Escort.
Wade farmed and raised livestock northwest of Larkinburg and later north of Mayetta. He had served on the Jackson County Farm Bureau Board and was a member of the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe Miller, Paul Miller. Jim Miller and Victor Miller.
Survivors include a son, Warren (Heather) Miller, Holdrege, NE; two daughters, Connie (Jim) Nordstrom, Topeka, and Barbara (Roger) Collins, Holton; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Inurnment will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery.
