Vivian Irene Smith, 98, Phoenix, AZ, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at her home.
She was born Jan. 27, 1918, at Valley Falls, the daughter of LeRoy Samuel and Clara Edith Kneedy Gentry. She graduated from Valley Falls High School.
She married Eugene V. Smith, April 25, 1943, at Topeka. He died July 28, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Reda Jean Jensen, on April 29, 2014; her brother, Millard Gentry, in infancy; her sister, Dorothy Boyd; and a great-grandson, Liam Fischer.
Survivors include her son, Larry, of the home; three grandchildren, Brad & Brian Fischer, and Gina McGahan; four great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery at a later date. Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls is in charge of local arrangements.
