Virginia L. Reichart
Virginia L. Reichart, 94, Topeka, formerly of Valley Falls, died Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Brewster Place in Topeka.
She had been an author of poetry, short stories and a radio drama and had been published in regional and national journals, including the Topeka Capital-Journal. She wrote and directed the 1954 Centennial Pageant for Valley Falls and also had written pageants for Holton and Hiawatha. In 1992 she was named a National Golden Poet of the Year.
She was born Oct. 15, 1911, at Hewins, the daughter of Dr. G.M. and Grace Griffith Lambdin. She graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1928 and attended Edinburg College at Edinburg, TX. She married Holly Marks "Jack" Reichart on Oct. 4, 1932, at Estes Park, CO. He died on May 27, 1974. A son, Dick Reichart, also preceded her in death in 2000.
Survivors include a grandson, Brian Reichart, Estherville, IA, and a nephew, Gregg Lambdin, Jericho, NY.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 pm, Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Falls Christmas Children's Fund and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, 810 Broadway, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
