Obituary

Virginia Lee "Jean" Davis, 84, of Holton, KS passed away January 13, 2013 at Medicalodge Jackson County. She was born November 17, 1928 in Kansas City, KS the daughter of Howard Thomas and Ora (Reed) Davis.

Jean lived in the Holton community since 1977 and had previously lived in Oklahoma and Arizona. She was a retired factory worker and certified nurse's aide.

Jean enjoyed painting, crocheting, needle point and basket weaving. She loved to read the Bible and when asked her favorite scripture, her comment was "It doesn't matter what you read, it's all good!"

Jean married Edmund M. Davis on May 23, 1983 in Miami, OK. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2005. She was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Bennie Fenner and Clydale Cross; 3 sisters, Opal Harman, Doris Owens and Ruth Prigmore; 3 brothers, Charles, Thomas and Wayne Davis and a grandson, Ravi Heter.

Survivors include a son, David Harman, Sr. and his wife Barbara of Holton, KS; 3 daughters, Frankie Ludlow of Emporia, KS, Doris Jean McMurry of Arizona and Katie Bragg of Indiana; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Ontario Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be given to the Virginia Davis Memorial Fund c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
