WETMORE-Virgil L. Zwahl, 83, Wetmore, KS passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Topeka. He was born April 17, 1928 in Wetmore the son of Herman H. and Maggie M. (Hall) Zwahl.

Virgil graduated from Wetmore High School in 1946. He served in the infantry in the United States Army, 45th Division, for two years during the Korean War. He was a member of the Wetmore American Legion Post #282.

Virgil worked for and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Topeka.

Survivors include a sister, Eldred L. Pfrang of Goff, KS; two brothers, Floyd A. Zwahl of Wetmore, KS and Herman H. "Junior" Zwahl of Sabetha, KS; two nieces, three nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Todd Zwahl.

Graveside service with military honors will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at the Wetmore Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
