HOLTON- Violet "Vi" White, 85, of Holton, KS passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Holton Community Hospital.
Vi was born May 8, 1925 in Pingree, ND, the daughter of Charles and Olive Kephart Hopewell. She received her education in Pingree and completed Business College in Jamestown, ND. Vi taught school for a year before moving to Spokane, WA where she worked for the government during WWII.
Violet was married to Raymond White on July 2, 1945 in Couer d'Alene, ID. They moved to Holton after the war in October 1945 and made it their home. Violet was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Unity Circle at the church. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary, two bridge clubs and Holton Business Women.
She is survived by: her husband, Raymond of the home; her daughter, Deanna Winters of Topeka, KS; her sons, Glenn (Donna) White of Topeka, KS and Gregg (Doris) White of Perry, KS; her 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday May 7, 2011 at Mercer Funeral Home with burial following in Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services on Saturday morning from 9-10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
