TOPEKA- Viola Ruth Jordan Spiker, 89, of Topeka, passed away August 26, 2009 at a care facility in Topeka. She was born February 3, 1920 in Robinson, KS the daughter of John and Bessie Cowley Shivers. She graduated from Everest High School in 1937.
Mrs. Spiker was a member of the Wetmore United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Modern Study Club and Wetmore Bridge Club.
She married Virgil Jordan in 1941, they divorced. She later married George Spiker on March 31, 1951 in Topeka, KS, he survives. Other survivors include a son, Kenneth Jordan (Donita) of Topeka, KS; 2 sisters, Lois Puvogel (Paul) and Elva Kurtz all of Horton, KS; a brother, Lester Shivers of Downingtown, PA; 2 granddaughters, Sally Jordan of Overland Park, KS, Tara Jordan Crawshaw of Topeka, KS; and 2 great grandchildren, Jacob and Ashleigh.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brent Jordan; 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, KS. Burial will be in the Horton Cemetery.
