Obituary
Vernon C. Mitchell, 98, of Holton, formerly of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away July 4, 2016 at the Pines in Holton, Kansas.
He was born January 28, 1918 in El Dorado the son of William M. and Cora M. (Dillman) Mitchell. Vernon had worked at Skelly-Getty Oil in El Dorado retiring after 47 years of service. On October 5, 1937 he married Dorothy M. Cloyes in El Dorado. She preceded him in death in 2005. He was also preceded in death by his son, Vernon C. "Billy" Mitchell and his daughter, M. Jean Williamson. Vernon is survived by: his grandchildren, Valerie Williamson of Hoyt, KS, Kelley Williamson of Colorado and Bryan Williamson of Pittsburg, Kansas.
Vernon was cremated and private inurnment will be in Sunset Cemetery in El Dorado. Memorials may be made to the Vernon Mitchell memorial fund (to be designated later) and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, Kansas 66436.
