Vera Mae Cummings, 92, of Topeka passed away Monday morning, December 14, 2020 at Topeka Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.

She was born December 19, 1927 in Mayetta the daughter of John W. and Viola (Jones) Cummings. She had lived in Mayetta, Lawrence and later Topeka.  Vera was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta. She had worked several years doing different jobs with Cottonwood.

Vera is survived by: her sisters, Mildred Schucher of Coronado, CA and Mary Ann Waltman of Topeka; her brothers, Theodore Cummings of Washington, Anthony Cummings of Topeka and Richard Cummings of Manhattan, KS; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her sisters, Theresa Prochish, Anna Cummings, and Margaret Shafer; her brothers, John, Francis, Cornelius, Gerald and Leonard Cummings.

She will begin lying in state at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton on Wednesday afternoon, December 16, 2020 through Friday morning, December 18, 2020.    Graveside Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hoyt.  Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Holton, 66436.  Due to the critical situation we all are in, please remember the families during this difficult time and consider sending a card of condolence or posting on our website
