VENITA MAXINE BOYD
Venita Maxine Boyd, 86, Merriam, formerly of Leavenworth, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Manor in Merriam, KS
She was born Feb. 12, 1920, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Louis and Verna Ammen Meyer. She graduated from Valley Falls high school in 1938.
She married Earl Boyd on April 6, 1940, at Lansing, and shortly thereafter they moved to Independence, Oregon. In 1949 they returned to Leavenworth. Maxine worked for Hallmark Cards as a supervisor and retired after 17 years of service. In 1995 she moved to Shawnee, KS and in 2001 she became a resident of Trinity Lutheran Manor in Merriam. She continued her hobbies there of sewing, quilting, painting and bingo.
Earl Boyd preceded her in death on May 17, 1985. A son, Dale Albert Boyd, died at eighteen months of age.
She is survived by her son David Boyd, and his wife Joan, Shawnee; three grandchildren, Jason Boyd, West Hollywood, CA, Amanda Wade and her husband Troy, Olathe, and Jordan Boyd, Shawnee; two great grandchildren, Riley and Reagan Wade, Olathe; two step grandchildren, Kristin Vest and Michael Caywood, both of Basehor; six step great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joseph Clopton, Cooper Thompson, and Dylan, Parker and Annie Caywood.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery. A visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Online condolences are available at
