Lancaster- Mark Anthony "Tony" Davenport, 55, of Lancaster, KS, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at his home. He was born May 27, 1952 in Atchison, KS the son of Herbert and Ruth Amanda VanWey Davenport.
Tony graduated from Maur Hill High School in 1970, working at Arensburg's Grocery while in school. He was a star basketball player for Maur Hill.
He lived in Lancaster since 1995. He had previously lived in Atchison, KS where he worked as a forklift driver and utility worker at Golden Star, a bouncer at the Warf Bar for about 20 years, managed King's Convenience Store and worked for Blish Mize Distribution Center. He was the president of the Steelworkers Union in Atchison for 8 years and a member of Quail Unlimited.
He married Pamela Ann Reichle on April 9, 1993 in Atchison. She survives. Other survivors include 2 sons Danny Davenport, Robert Davenport both of the home; 2 daughters Danielle Davenport of the home, Christina Davenport of Topeka, KS; 2 brothers Tim Davenport and his wife Teresa and Mick Davenport both of Atchison, KS; and 2 grandchildren Destiny and Marcus Vaughn.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Bonnie Murray and Barbara Dickson.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2007 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Bucks Grove Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Hope Lodge Cancer Center or Abundant Life Hospice sent c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O.
