James Toby Barnett, 39, Valley Falls, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, as a result of injuries from a single vehicle accident west of Valley Falls.
He was born on Feb. 27, 1970, at Bastrop, LA, the son of Gene and Judy Sutton Barnett. He attended high school at Jones, LA.
Toby was a welder for Ernest-Spencer Metals at Meriden. He served as a Lieutenant for the Jefferson County District 11 Fire Department at Valley Falls.
He married Lori Tullis on May 20, 1994, at Oskaloosa. She survives. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Barnett, on Dec. 2, 2008.
Survivors include two sons, Derek Barnett and Dalton Barnett, both of the home; his mother, Judy Barnett, Jones, LA; two brothers, Vincent Barnett, DesArc, AR, and Wesley Barnett, Crossett, AR; and maternal grandmother, Modean Sutton, DesArc, AR.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Burial with honors conducted by the Jefferson County Firefighters Association will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
