THOMAS E. ROLFE
WETMORE- Thomas E. Rolfe, 67, of Wetmore, KS, died Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
He was born February 21, 1939 in Wetmore, the son of Kenneth E. and Mary Alice Kahle Rolfe. He graduated from high school in Savannah, MO and attended Highland College and Washburn University. He was a farmer and stockman in the Wetmore community. He also owned and operated the Sabetha Lanes bowling alley for 5 years and later the Holton Bowling Center for 17 years.
He was married to Ruth Glenn on August 2, 1959 in Robinson. They were later divorced. He married Nelda Bernhardt on April 10, 1983 in Sabetha. She survives. Other survivors include his son, Anthony T. Rolfe, Lincoln, NE; his daughter, Melanie A. Mears, Robinson, his step-son, W. Dean Bernhardt Jr., Diamond, MO; his step-daughter, Sandy Rison, Topeka; his sisters, Maude DeBusk, Kincaid, Carol Haney and Susan Williams, both of Topeka; his brothers, William Rolfe, Circleville, and James Rolfe, Holton; 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.
Services for Mr. Rolfe will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Holton Cemetery. He will lie in state after 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and family will greet friends one hour prior to service time on Tuesday.
