Obituary

Therll Heiselman, 88, of Holton, KS, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Medicalodge Jackson County. He was born May 31, 1925 at the family home northeast of Holton, KS, the son of Clarence E. and Agnes Velma (Shingelton) Heiselman. He was preceded in death by his twin sister who died at birth and his sisters, Geraldine Luscombe of Holton and Mildred Gindro of Florence, CO.

Therll attended Banner grade school and Holton High School and joined the United States Navy in December of 1942. He served until honorably discharged in January of 1946.

He was united in marriage to Neva Robison on June 27, 1948 in Larkinburg, KS. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his son, Dr. Darell Heiselman (Maruja) of Akron, OH; his daughter, Diana Holmes (Steve) of Topeka, KS; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Upon returning from the service, Therll was employed by Rexall Drug Store in Holton. He was later employed in the furniture and floor covering business at Morlan Furniture, Bower Furniture and Padden Furniture. He started Therll's Furniture and Floor Covering in 1966 and participated until his health made it difficult to continue.

Therll was a lifetime member of the Holton VFW Post #1367 and was honored as a State Commander in 1966. He was also a former member of the Holton American Legion, Mustang Campers Club, Good Sam Campers Club, Holton Country Club and served as Scoutmaster for several years. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church serving as Sunday School Superintendent and Moderator. He was a present member of the First Methodist Church in Holton.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Holton. Burial with military honors will be in the Holton Cemetery. Therll will lie in state until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton and Thursday morning at the church. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or Topeka Rescue Mission c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
