Westmoreland- Thelma Mae Vance, 98, of Westmoreland, formerly of Havensville, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009 at her home. She was born May 24, 1911 in Bartlesville, OK the daughter of James and Bessie Taliaferro Roberson. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1929 and attended two years of college at the University of Kansas. She had been a member of the Havensville community for 46 years and had previously lived in Elmont. She was a member of the Bucks Grove United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid at the church.
Mrs. Vance married Willard Vance on November 18, 1934 in Elmont, KS. He passed away August 23, 1993. She was also preceded by a brother, Ray M. Roberson.
Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine Fouts of Westmoreland, KS; two sons, Ed Vance of Soldier, KS and Frank Vance of Omaha, NE; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 6 step-grandchidren and 6 step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Bucks Grove Cemetery. Family will greet friends 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
