Terry Steele Nightingale, 60, of Holton, died Sunday, August 13, 2006 at his home. He was born December 31, 1945 at Seneca, KS, the son of Virgil E. and Wanda M. Steele Nightingale.
Terry graduated from Corning High School in 1963. He graduated from Highland Community College with an AA Degree and from Emporia State Teacher's College with a Bachelor of Science in Education. In 1971, he graduated from Purdue University, Lafayette, IN with a Master of Arts in Teaching Math Degree.
Terry was a Mathematics Teacher and Coach for 5 years at Hoyt High School. He later was Mathematics Teacher and Coach at Holton High School for 31 years and most recently taught Calculus at Washburn Rural High School in Topeka from 2003 to 2006.
He was a member of Kansas NEA, Holton NEA, Kansas Association of Teachers of Mathematics, Kansas Coaches Association, American Association of Basketball, past member of Holton Mason Lodge, Lucky Stars 4-H Community Leader and Teacher of Excellence at Washburn Rural High School.
Terry was married to Carolyn M. Casey on June 18, 1967 in Corning, KS. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of the home, 3 daughters, Traci Lynn and her husband, Ed Chmidling of Leavenworth, KS, Kristi Ann and her husband, Darin Altenburg of Topeka, KS and Alison Marie and her husband, Todd Wilson of Holton, KS, a sister, Shirleen Prim of Overland Park, KS, a brother, Gale Nightingale of Corning, KS and 4 granddaughters, Tabitha, Taygen, Timber and Laura.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2006 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Corning Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
