SOPHIE L. HILL
Sophie L. Hill, 77, Holton, died Friday, May 18, 2007, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.
She was born April 14, 1930, at Ludell in Rawlins County, the daughter of Wilhelm and Margaret Wolters Meyer. She attended Lutheran Elementary School at Ludell and graduated from St. John's College at Winfield in 1949.
Sophie worked as a secretary for the Kansas Extension Service at Manhattan and later at the Jackson County Extension Office in Holton. She married William Frank Hill on Feb. 13, 1955, at Manhattan. They farmed and raised livestock east of Holton. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Meyer, in 2006.
Survivors include her husband William Frank Hill, Holton; two sons, John Hill, and his wife, Tammy, Holton, and Henry Hill and his wife, Tracy, Holton; two daughters, Margaret Pagel, and her husband, Henry, Holton, and Kay Rash and her husband, Mike, Circleville, and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton. Interment will be in the Holton Cemetery. Sophie will lie in state until 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton and after 3:00 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Beck-Bookman Library c/o Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
