Sidney S. Gonce, Jr., 48, of Holton, formerly of Topeka passed away Thursday August 29, 2013 at Medicalodge Jackson County.

Sidney was born December 30, 1964 in Lawrence, Kansas the son of Sidney and Sarah (Mccall) Gonce. He graduated from Lawrence High School and later attended Kansas University. He had worked in construction in Topeka and Lawrence and taught deaf children in Lawrence. Sidney proudly served his country with the Army National Guard. He was a member of The Community Church in Topeka.

In 2002 he married Cheryl Shelton in Topeka. She survives in Holton. Other survivors include: his parents, Sarah McCall and Sidney Gonce, Sr. both of Lawrence; his children, Jennifer, Jessie, Steven and Samantha; his step children, James, Lisa, Angela and Anthony; his brothers, Timothy Gonce, Robert Gonce and Billy Gonce; and his 11 grandchildren.

A celebration memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 6th, 2013 in the Medicalodge Jackson County Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Sidney Gonce Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton 66436.
