Heavenly Father called our dearest and sweet mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, Shirley Virginia (Hill) Segrist, 90, to her eternal home on January 31. 2026, from the Homestead Assisted Living in Holton, Kansas. She was born January 8, 1936 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Joe and Ruby Kathryn (Jones) Hill. Shirley married Duane Eugene Segrist on November 24, 1954 in Granville, Oklahoma.
She became a military wife and lived in England, Nebraska and Guam. Duane and Shirley settled in Riverside, California; where she worked at the March AF Base Credit Union in Riverside, California. She served on the Colgate Palmolive Golf League and was an avid golfer. In 1985, she moved to Holton, Kansas and owned and operated, along with her husband, Duane, The Prime Time restaurant and club. She was an active member of the Holton VFW Auxiliary and attended the Lakeview Faith Chapel.
Duane and Shirley celebrated over 48 years of marriage and he preceded her in death and brought to his eternal rest on July 12, 2002, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ruby Kathryn (Jones) Hill; two sisters, Darlene (Hill) Kramer and Geraldine (Hill) Simmons.
Following her husband's, death she remained in Holton, Kansas and traveled to Riverton, Utah to visit/travel to many destinations to visit family, military friends and enjoy vacations with her grandchildren. She loved seeing natural wonders, enjoyed foreign countries and loved crossword puzzles, cryptoquips and jigsaw puzzles. These were her favorite pastimes.
Survivors include her daughter, Steffanie Reneau (Segrist) Orman and her husband, Merle Robert Orman of Riverton Utah; two grandchildren, Crystal Anne Orman and Cassandra Lynne (Orman) (Mike) Amaya; one great grandchild, Makayla Evalynne Amaya of Gilbert, Arizona; a niece, Sabrina Gawthorp of Cypress, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Donna (Segrist) (Gene) Murrow of Denison, Kansas, Mona (Segrist) McManigal of Lawrence, Kansas and Billie Segrist of Topeka, Kansas,
Graveside Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the Holton Cemetery, Holton, Kansas. Family will greet friends an hour prior at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Heart of Jackson Humane Society or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270 Holton, Kansas 66436.
