Shirley J. Flanders, 83, of Topeka, KS passed away Friday, August 17, 2018 at Midland Hospice House. She was born August 13, 1935 in Topeka, the daughter of Walter and Cora Alice (Love) Sharrai.

Shirley graduated from Denton High School in 1952. She lived in California for 38 years and later moved to Topeka in 1997. She worked as security guard for Advanced Micro Device, as a manager for Baskin Robbins, both in California, and was also a clerk for Walgreen in Topeka.

She married Richard L. Flanders on November 25, 1953 in Siloam Springs, AR; they had celebrated over 64 years of marriage. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her 4 children, Richard D. Flanders (Sun) of Abilene, TX, Terry L. Flanders of Topeka, KS, Cheryl A. Anderson (Michael) of Redding, CA and Mark D. Flanders (Sheila) of Texas City, TX; a sister, Phyllis Hirst (Darold) of Overland Park, KS; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Beverly Flanders and Patricia Dohrman.

Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Cemetery.
