HOLTON- Sharolyn Kay Paxton, 66, of Holton passed away June 24, 2009 at Holton Community Hospital. She was born December 8, 1942 in Holton, KS the daughter of Francis "Everett" and Selma Rannebeck Jones.
Sharolyn graduated from Holton High School in 1960. She was a cook for over 30 years at Jackson County Nursing Home in Holton, retiring in December of 2007. She was a lifelong member of the Holton community and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Sharolyn most enjoyed her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
She married Cecil Ray Paxton on January 28, 1961 in Lehigh, OK. They were later divorced. To this union were 3 children; a son, Kevin Jay Paxton (Jennifer) of Holton; 2 daughters, Shelly Kay Robinson (Dan) of Circleville and Shelby Ray Brey (Tony) of Whiting. Other survivors include her father and step-mother, Everett and Lila Jones of Holton; a sister, LouAnn Porter (David) of Mayetta; a brother, Larry Jones (Kathy) of Holton; 3 step-sisters, Duranna Crouch of Auburn, KS, Debbie Richmond of Lyndon, Dianne Mosier of St. Marys; a step-brother, Dennis Rannebeck of Lawrence; grandchildren, Kyle and Zachary Amon, Colette, Whitney and Michael Robinson, Peyton and Paige Paxton and Adam and Abby Brey; 4 nieces and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nicole Rae Amon in 1994 and her companion, Melvin "Chick" Johnson in 1999.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton. Burial will be in the Netawaka Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00p.m. Sunday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
