Obituary

Charles "Shannon" Zibell, 84, of Holton, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the Holton Community Hospital. He was born July 6, 1923 in Holton, KS the son of Fred and Violet M. Shannon Zibell.
Shannon had lived all of his life in the Holton community. After school he was drafted into the United States Army. During WWII, he served in the Pacific Theater of Operation for 3 years as a member of the 172nd Infantry 43rd Division. He was a farmer and stockman and also worked for 33 years with Petree Propane before he retired.
He was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton, a member of the Holton Lodge #42 A.F. & A.M., the Jackson County Senior Citizen's Center and a life member of the Holton VFW Post #1367.
He married Norma M. Arnold on May 27, 1947 in Holton. She passed away on June 27, 2003. He was also preceded in death by a brother Dale Zibell.
Survivors include his son, Harold Lynn Zibell of Topeka, KS; his brother, Harold "Zeke" Zibell of Topeka, KS; several grandchildren and great-grand children and a niece, Jenny Zibell of Topeka.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Evangel United Methodist Church or Jackson County Senior Citizens Center sent c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
