HOLTON- Scott Ronald Strader, 49, of Holton, KS passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at the Holton Hospital after a 9 year battle with pseudomyxoma peritonei (appendix cancer). He was born August 25, 1962 in Holton, the son of Ronald R. and Linda L. Locher Strader.
Scott graduated from Holton High School in 1980 and received his B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Emporia University in 1985. He earned his Accounting Degree from Washburn University in 1986. He had worked for Advance Insurance at Blue Cross and Blue Shield 23 years and was Senior Staff Accountant. Scott was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holton.
He was married to K. Diann Hamilton on August 3, 1985 in Holton. In addition to his wife, Diann, Scott is survived by his daughters; Taylor Rae Strader of Pittsburg, KS and Sydney Clare Strader of Lawrence, KS; his son, Riley Hamilton Strader of the home; his parents, Ron and Linda Strader of Holton, KS; his sister, Jennifer Paxton (Kevin) and his brother Ryan Strader (Karen) both of Holton, KS and his mother-in-law, Morene Hamilton of Hutchinson, KS.
Scott's life will be celebrated with a walk/run at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Holton town square (wear your Trot for Scott shirts or yellow if you would like). A book will be available to sign at the Mercer Funeral Home and at the Celebration Run/Walk on the square. Memorials may be given to the Strader Children's Education Fund c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436. The family requests no flowers please.
