Russell J. Schuetz

Russell “Russ” James Schuetz, 74, of Holton, KS, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 at his home with family by his side. He was born November 19, 1951 in Horton, KS, the son of James L. and Virginia “Ginger” (Jordan) Schuetz.

Russ graduated from Horton High School in 1969. He was a letter carrier for the Topeka Post Office for over 25 years. After retirement, he worked as a parts manager for Clarks Chevrolet in Holton.

He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.

Russ married Bonita “Gay” Lott on December 27, 1969 in Horton, KS. They celebrated over 56 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Gay of the home; 3 sons, Brad Schuetz (Stacy) of Andover, KS, Chad Schuetz (Tiffany) of Kechi, KS and Adam Schuetz (Melissa) of Wellsville, KS; 2 sisters, Vickie Finger (Wayne) of Powhattan, KS and Cindy Shaffer (Brad) of Wamego, KS; brother, Pete Schuetz (Amber) of Sabetha, KS; 10 grandchildren, Alex, Taylor, Brooklyn, Isabelle, Ashton, Preston, Adilynn, Tavin, Zoey and Ila and a great-granddaughter, Delilah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ginger Schuetz and his son Christopher John Schuetz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2026 at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery in Mercier, KS. Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening with visitation to follow until 7:30 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
