HOWER
Holton-Russell Warren Hower, 55, of Holton died Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the Holton Community Hospital.
He was born February 10, 1951 in Holton, the son of Warren Clinton and Mary Margaret Todd Hower. He lived most of his life in Holton. He graduated from Holton High in 1969 and attended Pratt Community College. After college he joined the Army National Guard. In his earlier years he worked power line construction in Texas, Alaska and Libya. He later was a truck driver for many years and mostly worked for Holton Livestock Express.
Russell was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton.
He married Pam Burkett in 1983, they later divorced.
Survivors include his wife, Shelly White-Hower of the home; a daughter, Jenna Hower of Duluth, MN; 3 step-sons, Derek Burkett of Topeka, Jacob Kolbek of the home and Bill Jeffries of Bonner Springs, KS; a step-daughter, Stephanie Lambert of Topeka; his mother, Mary Hower of Holton; 2 sisters, Linda Allen of Norcrosse, GA, Wanda Tope of Independence, MO; 2 brothers, Roger Hower of Holton and Dennis Hower of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his father Warren Hower in 1978.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2006 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery.
