Obituary
Russel D. Pickett, Sr., 85, of Solider, KS passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton. He was born December 8, 1931 in Americus, KS, the son of James Hilliard and Mary (Troxell) Pickett.
Russel graduated from Americus High School in 1949 before attending Emporia State University. He then served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict. After serving, Russel worked as a self employed sheet rocker.
He married Anita Louise Brownfield in 1955, they later divorced. Russel was preceded in death by a twin-sister, Ramona Funk and a brother, Jack Pickett.
Survivors include 3 sons, Russel Pickett, Jr. of Wetmore, KS, Timmothy Dobbins-Pickett of San Francisco, CA and Bucke Pickett of Arlington, TX; a daughter Susan Harris (Chuck) of Atchison, KS. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be at a later date.
