Holton-Our beloved mother and friend to many, Ruby Alice Branam, 83, died Thursday, June 15, 2006, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.
Ruby was a silk finisher for Hygienic Cleaners in Topeka when she retired. She was a member of the Denison Bible Church and Holton Senior Citizens.
She was born Oct. 18, 1922, at Weeping Water, Neb., the daughter of Ernest and Orlenia Hinkle Baker. She graduated from Soldier High School.
She married Isaac W. Cassel in 1942. He died on Mar. 16, 1945, in Germany during WW II. She married William A. Stevenson in 1946. They divorced. She married James Branam in 1962. They later divorced.
Survivors include a son, William Stevenson, and his wife Shirley, Duncan, OK; two daughters, Kathleen Bates and her husband, Tom, Colorado Springs, and Carol Robbins, Topeka; a brother, Ray Baker, Eugene, OR; two sisters, Dorothy Wagner, Onaga, and Evelyn Cress, Burson, CA; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be at the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 pm, Monday.
