HOLTON- Rozella Bonjour Shaw Davis, 77, of Holton, KS passed away September 29, 2009 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. She was born February 1, 1932 in Centralia, KS the daughter of Simon Eugene and Ellen Savajo Bonjour. She graduated from Centralia High School.
Rose had lived in the Holton community for 46 years and previously in Onaga, KS, Bastrop, LA and Lake Charles, LA. She owned and operated Town Tavern in Holton, worked in sales distribution, a housewife and loving mother, wife and grandmother. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post # 1367, a member of Banner Ladies' Aide and a member of Pleasant Valley Neighbors Club.
She married Felix Berton Shaw, Sr. in 1949, he passed away in 1961. She later married John E. Davis on February 4, 1968 in Holton, KS, he survives. Other survivors include a son, Felix Berton Shaw, Jr. of Holton, KS; 2 daughters, Sherrie L. Shaw and Sharon Bence of Ingelside, TX and Roxanna Shaw and Robert Sidebottom of Wichita, KS; 4 grandchildren, Ginger Ann Binkley and her husband Scott, Robert Berton Shaw and his wife Sherrie, Nicole Rose Shaw and Chelsea Bence; 4 great grandchildren, Kaylee Mick, Zachary Binkley, Brayden Binkley and Garrett Shaw; a sister, Marylou Peterson of McPherson, KS; and a brother, Bud Bonjour of Centralia, KS. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marge Graf and Betty Labbe and a brother, Dale Bonjour.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to VFW Ladies Auxiliary Poppy Fund c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
