Roy Eugene Dix, 91, Denison, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at an Onaga care facility.
He was born on March 30, 1922, at Meriden, the son of Arthur and Ethel McCoy Dix.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Dix, in infancy, three
brothers, four sisters, and a great-granddaughter, Bailey King-Dix.
Survivors include his children, Mary Conway, Jane Dix, Carol Johnson, Karl Dix, Kathy (Randy) Robinson, and Joe Dix.
Roy's family relocated to Montana. At a young age he was put on an "Orphan Train" and sent to Meriden, KS, to live with his Aunt Annie and Uncle Chris Simpson. Roy began his farming career with them.
Roy was a farmer his entire life and lived west of Valley Falls. He received a Kansas Bankers Soil Conservation Award. He enjoyed looking at the crops and watching them grow. He enjoyed a good time with family and friends. He was a great story teller and loved a good joke. Roy liked country music and one of his favorite songs was "Singing the Blues" by Marty Robbins. He enjoyed listening to the fishing tales of Jerry and BJ Albright and Russell Pasley.
Roy requested cremation and no formal funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Harden Hospice and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
