Rose Marie "Kitch ko me quah" Wahweotten, 80, of Lawrence, KS passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar in Lawrence. She was born May 29, 1937 on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation, the daughter of Joe and Naomi (Mzhichteno) Wahweotten.


Rose attended grade school in Mayetta. She lived most of her life on the reservation and also lived in Holton, Oskaloosa and Perry. Rose moved to Lawrence in 1988.

Rose was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and Drum Religion. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandfather, George Allen.

Survivors include her guardian, Lois Mead of Lawrence.


Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Shipshee Cemetery on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation. Family will greet friends from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton before processing to the cemetery.
