Topeka- Rose Pauline (Kuhnert) Martin, 98, of Topeka, KS and formerly of Jefferson County, KS passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Oakley Place in Topeka, KS. She was born February 12, 1924 in Doniphan County, KS the daughter of Paul Robert and Alma (Scholz) Kuhnert. Rose attended schools in Doniphan County, KS.

Rose along with her husband Kenneth lived on the family farm raising their children East of Boyle, KS (7 miles East of Valley Falls) from 1947-1973. They moved to Topeka and lived there for 10 years. They then moved to Arkansas where they lived for 10 years before returning to Topeka in 1993 until the present.

On May 9, 1947 in Atchison, KS, Rose was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Martin. They shared over 48 years of marriage before Kenneth passed away on September 27, 1995. To this union they shared three children: Harold, Glen and Karen.

Rose is a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka. She enjoyed partaking in various church groups and square dancing clubs. She also enjoyed gardening, taking care of her lawn and she took much pride in keeping a clean house. Most of all, Rose loved being a wife, mother and grandmother taking care of her family.

She is survived by her two sons, Harold Martin (Joyce) of Valley Falls and Glen Martin (Barbara) of Meriden, KS; daughter, Karen Bertels (Tom) of Lenexa, KS; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth; and a brother, Louis W. Kuhnert.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2022 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 S.W. Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66604. The graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Valley Falls Cemetery in Valley Falls, KS. Rose will lie-in-state from 2-6 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 4-6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls, KS.
