HOLTON- Rose Curtis, 90, of Holton, KS passed away September 13, 2011 at Medicalodge Jackson County. She was born October 5, 1920 in Merriam, KS the daughter of Herman Lewis and Ethel Viola Reboul Bledissel.
She attended school in Holton and was a lifelong member of the Holton community. Rose had worked for Merry Manor in Holton as a Certified Nurse Aid for 20 years. She also worked for Gilks Potato Chip Factory and started the first Senior Citizens Meal Site in Holton. She was past president of Eagles Lodge #3417 and had started the women's board.
Rose married Orrien "Edward" Curtis, they were later divorced. She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Ethel Newman (John) of Holton and Sharon Rose Fitzsimmons of Mayetta; a sister, Thelma McGuire of Topeka; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Rose was cremated. A private family burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to Medicalodge Jackson County or the Capper's Foundation c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
