Obituary

Ronald Keith Dick, 89, of Holton, KS, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Vintage Park in Holton, with family by his side. He was born February 2, 1932 in Circleville, KS, the son of William Green and Goldie Mae (Freel) Dick.

Ronald graduated from Wetmore High School in 1949.  He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1952 – 1956, during the Korean War; spending 3 years in Germany. He was a farmer and stockman all of his life. Ronald drove the School Bus for 20 years at Meriden and Mayetta schools.

He was a member of Potawatomi United Methodist Church since 1966 where he served as treasurer, and long-term trustee. He was a member of the American Legion and also served several years as a member of the Jackson County Coop Board.

Ronald married Ilene Etelyn Hofmann on June 9, 1957 at the Hofmann home in Ozawkie, KS. They celebrated over 64 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Ilene of the home; his daughter, Lori Beth Gillis of Holton, KS; his son, James Alan Dick of Topeka, KS; one sister, Virginia Sue Wesley of Manhattan, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Goldie Dick and a daughter, Jodi Kay Dick, age 4.

Private Graveside Service with Military Honors will be Friday, October 29, 2021 be at the Holton Cemetery. Masks are mandatory. Ronald will lie in state Wednesday and Thursday at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the Heart of Jackson Humane Society or Holton Community Hospital Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
