Ronald Baxter, 67, of Mayetta died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on October 17, 1943 in Holton to Lawrence E. and Lillie Beth Ray Baxter.
Ron graduated from Mayetta High School in 1961. He worked at DuPont/Flexel for 29 years before retiring. He later worked for the Department of Revenue for 5 years. Ron served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967 aboard the USS Pandemus ARL. He was a member of the American Legion Post #44 in Holton. He was an avid bow hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.
Ron married Donna Elliott on June 7, 1968 in Holton. She survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Amanda Moore (Brian) of Topeka; a brother, Russell Baxter (Marquita) of Mayetta; grandchildren, Amber and Jeffrey Moore and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Baxter was cremated. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday evening June 3 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association and may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, 66436.
