Roger Heckerson, 76, passed away on January 1, 2026 doing what he loved, riding his bicycle in Springdale, AR. He was born June 6, 1949 in Holton, KS to Charles Heckerson and Agnes (Stuber) Heckerson. After graduating from Holton High School, Roger went on to graduate with an accounting degree from Kansas State University and then spent the majority of his career as an accountant for the State of Kansas.
Roger married his wife Pamela on October 6, 1979 in Ottawa, KS. They spent over 3 decades raising their family in Roger’s hometown of Holton, KS before moving to their retirement home in Northwest Arkansas in 2016.
Roger was a lover of all things fun, whether that was enjoying his hobbies of cycling, waterskiing, and travelling with his wife, Pam. He loved being the ultimate partner in crime with any one of his 5 grandchildren, cheering on his K-State Wildcats, and chatting up the nearest stranger.
Roger was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Pamela, of the home; sons Nicholas (Katelyn) Heckerson of Glen Carbon, IL, and Nathan (Sadie) Heckerson of Prairie Village, KS; 2 sisters, Maurine (Richard) Sweeney of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Diane (Dennis) Hatfield of The Villages, FL; and five grandchildren Maddison, Lucas, and Joshua Heckerson (Nick/Katelyn) and Colin and Nora Heckerson (Nate/Sadie).
Services will be held Saturday, January 17th at 11am at the First United Methodist Church, 1401 W. 4th Street, in Holton, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, c/o Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
