HOLTON- Roger Landis Aldis, 56, of Holton, KS passed away Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Holton Community Hospital. He was born January 5, 1953 in Kansas City, MO, the son of John and Ruth Gardner Aldis.
Roger grew up in Ft. Scott, KS and attended school there. He had worked in Food and Beverage Service and Entertainment Management in Lawrence, KS, Terre Haute, IN and Emporia, KS. He later owned ABC Exteriors in Topeka for several years before starting his own houseboat business. He owned Starlite Houseboats for 20 years and built and sold luxury houseboats throughout the United States.
Roger is survived by his life partner, Carla Nissen of the home; his son, Anton Carl Nissen also of the home; his brother, Richard "Dick" Aldis of Harper, KS; his sister, Debra Brady of Vista, CA; 6 nephews, David Aldis, Chad Bunn, Chris Brady, Mike and Chris Watkins and Lane Hanzlicek; 2 nieces, Emily Prouse and Elisabeth Aldis.
Services will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home. He will lie in state beginning Sunday at the funeral home.
There will be a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home in Ft. Scott, KS. He will lie in state beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Konantz-Cheney and the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Private family interment will be in the Wetmore Cemetery in Wetmore, KS.
