Robert Allen Raye, 72, of Whiting, KS, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 20, 2025 at his home. He was born October 29, 1953 in Dover, OH, the son of David Lane Ross and Josephine (Gates) Raye.

Robert graduated from Atchison High School in 1975. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1972 – 1975 during the Vietnam War.

He worked for UPS as a package delivery driver for over 23 years; retiring in 2023. After retirement, he was a full-time farmer farming the family homestead. He was a Deacon at Ebenezer Baptist Church and Victory Tabernacle UPC in Atchison, Ks, and a Trustee of The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Horton, KS.

Robert loved woodworking, RV travel and bowling. He would say “if I’m rolling, I’m bowling”. His highest overall average was 230 and several perfect games. He was honored with his induction into the Kaw Valley USBC Bowling Hall of Fame in 2025.

Robert married Beverly Ann Sayles on February 12, 1973 in Atchison, KS. They celebrated over 52 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Raye of the home; 3 children, Maurice E. Raye of Topeka, KS, Branden M. Raye (Joni) of Ashburn, VA and Theresa E. Sheffield of Kansas City, MO; 2 sisters, Serena Sanders (John) of Mountain Home, ID and Margaret Ross of Atchison, KS; 4 brothers, Russell Ross (Malia) of Whiting, KS, Victor Raye of Kansas City, MO, Wyatt Raye (Albett) of Whiting, KS and Jonathan Raye (Donna) of Holton, KS; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dr. Venda Raye Johnson and brother, David Lane Raye.
