Robert Charles Hosler, 79, Valley Falls, died Monday, July 4, 2011, at his home.
He was born on July 18, 1931, at Nortonville, the son of Omer and Catharine May Hosler. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1949. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War.
Bob retired in 1990 after working 33 years for Trans World Airlines in Kansas City, MO as a maintenance electrician and mechanic. He had also been a co-owner of H & M Electric in Valley Falls.
He was a member of St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 6671 and Grahem-Herbers Post 3084 Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Valley Falls. He was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
He married Anna May Frakes on Jan. 8, 1955, at Valley Falls. She survives. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Manuel, and a great-grandson, Miles Hosler.
Survivors include seven sons, John (Karin) Hosler, Valley Falls, Phil (Olene) Hosler, Denison, Paul Hosler, Manhattan, Pete (Sue) Hosler, Valley Falls, Mark Hosler, Meriden, Matt (Dana) Hosler, Great Bend, and Tim (Josef LaFromboise) Hosler, Lawrence; two daughters, Sue (Mark) Moranz, Mountain Home, AR, and Sheila (Jim) Markowitz, Emporia; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church in Valley Falls. Inurnment will follow at the church cemetery with military honors conducted by Grahem-Herbers Post 3084 VFW. A Rosary followed by a visitation will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
