Obituary

Robert W. Edmond, 81, of Wetmore, KS passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 at his home. He was born February 5, 1927 in Arlington, VA, the son of Arthur W. and Mabel Blanche Stoner Edmond.
Robert moved to Wetmore in 1995 from Peru, IN, where he had lived for nearly 50 years. He had worked for 40years as a Tool and Dye Journeyman Specialist. He most recently had worked for Square D Electric Company in Peru, retiring in 1994 after 18 years with the company.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Ships Navy during WWII aboard the LCI879 in the Asiatic Pacific American Area. He was honorably discharged on May 31, 1946.
He was married to Arlene Stebbings on February 11, 1946 in Elkton, MD. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Arlene, of the home; his daughters, Mable Edmond of Wetmore, KS and Ruth Lundgren of Elkhart, IN; his son, Robert M. Edmond of Kokomo, IN; his sisters, Betty France of Peru, IN and Margaret Heart and husband, Jack of Peru, IN; his brother, William Oliver Edmond of Frederick, MD and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert will lie in state beginning Monday afternoon at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, KS. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 27th at the funeral home. Private family burial will be in the Mexico Indiana Cemetery in Indiana. Memorials may be given to the National WWII Museum in his name c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
