IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard "Dave"
D. Loveall
November 14, 1942 – October 10, 2022
Richard David "Dave" Loveall, 79, of Holton, KS, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. He was born November 14, 1942 in Kansas City, KS the son of Richard Beverly "Bev" and Mary Frances (Gillette) Loveall.
Dave graduated from Washington High School in 1960, in Kansas City, KS and from Kansas State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
He worked as a Computer Specialist for the United States Department of Defense for many years and owned and operated a successful business in Oskaloosa, KS as he transitioned into retirement.
Dave married Barbara Jean Lawson in 1962 in Kansas City, KS. She was the love of his life. She survives along with the daughters he told everyone were "beautiful geniuses," Sarah Draper (Jeff) of Holton and Gretchen Giffin (Matthew) of Topeka, KS. Dave was constantly amazed by the accomplishments of his grandchildren Savhannah Jurgensmeier (John), Madeline Miller (Riley), Gracie Fischer, Braylon Draper, Calvin Giffin and Marshall Giffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Suzanne Knowlton.
Dave was a devoted Patriot of the United States of America and lived his life as an example of such. He was a Mason and a loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He mastered many things, always passing on his knowledge to his family and friends so they could live their lives as he did, loving to the fullest, providing for his family, never taking credit and always showing gentleness to every life he touched.
Dave enjoyed making people laugh! He made funny faces (that he practiced in his spare time), cracked endless witty jokes and chased his family around the house like a zombie! Dave loved and respected the outdoors. He fished, hunted, camped, gardened and spent hours "wandering aimlessly" outside, taking in the beauty of the land, exploring nature and treasuring its most intricate details. He was an author, historian, mathematician, astronomer and genealogist, continually studying and teaching his family to never stop learning.
Dave leaves a legacy of immeasurable pride, wisdom and grace that he has intentionally woven into the fabric of his family and friends that is certain to live on for generations to come. The remarkable love of this dad, husband, papaw, brother, son and friend will be treasured daily by those he has left behind and his kind-spirited soul will not be forgotten.
Private Family Services will be at a later date. Cards of condolence may be sent to Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
