HOLTON- Rex W. Pittenger, 63, of Holton passed away January 23, 2011 at Community Hospital in Onaga. He was born October 8, 1947 in Holton, KS the son of Charley L. and Opal A. Sourk Pittenger. He had spent most of his life in Jackson County and had also lived in Topeka and Emporia. Rex worked for the Jackson Training Center for many years helping with various tasks.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charley Pittenger on May 1, 1990; an infant niece, Tammy Scott and an infant nephew, Randy Scott.
Survivors include his mother, Opal Pittenger, of Holton; three sisters, Pat Moulden and her husband Everett of Holton, Ina Grace Bryan and her husband Richard of Kansas City, KS and Phyllis Scott and her husband Bob of Holton; a brother, Steve Pittenger and his wife Barb of Lawrence and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in the Olive Hill Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be given to Penn Place c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton , KS 66436.
