RAYMOND E. "GENE" REICHART

Raymond E. "Gene" Reichart, 73, Valley Falls, died July 20, 2007, at his home in the Coal Creek Community, north of Valley Falls.
Gene was a farmer and a stockman. He had also worked at Rockwell International which later became Atchison Casting, Inc. He was a former member of the Prosperity 4-H Club and a lifetime member of the American Hereford Association. In 1953, Triple R Farms was established with his father and brother. He was a member and a trustee of the Coal Creek United Methodist Church. He was the Coal Creek Cemetery Sexton for 30 years.
He was born on June 30, 1934, in the Coal Creek Community, the son of Raymond H. and Ethel L. Neill Reichart. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School at Effingham in 1952 and attended Peru State Teachers College, Peru, NE. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War Conflict from 1953 to 1955.
He married Betsy "Jane" Turner on September 11, 1953 at Effingham. She died on June 15, 1992. He married Nancy Hisle in 1995. They were divorced. An infant son, Thomas Turner Reichart, died in 1966. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jerold Reichart.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey R. Reichart, and his wife, Beverly, Valley Falls, and Neill J. Reichart, and his wife, Bobbi, Alma; his daughter, Jill E. Ellerman, and her husband, Carl L. Ellerman Jr., Valley Falls; grandsons, Jason Reichart, and his wife, Sarah, Anton Reichart and Conrad Reichart.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2007, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial of the cremains will be at the Coal Creek Cemetery with military honors conducted by Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Sunday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to the Coal Creek Church or to Jefferson County Hospice and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, 810 Broadway, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
